COBA test Network Annual meeting – Barcelona
From the 24th – 26th January, Ddungu was in Barcelona for the annual meeting of COBA test network. The COBATEST Network links organizations across Europe and Central Asia who offer community-based voluntary counselling and STI/HIV testing (CBVCT) services and promotes testing, early diagnosis and linkage to care in groups/populations that at a high risk of acquiring HIV due to various factors (https://cobatest.org/en/).
The meeting underscored the essential role community-based organization and their role of peers/volunteers in promoting voluntary STI/HIV counselling and testing, despite structural barriers. For the In 2024, the trained peers/volunteers in demedicalized HIV counselling and testing of the HIV-SAM project/All Together For Sexual Health (AT4SH),will continue sensitizing people in African communities and other migrant populations to make STI/HIV testing a part of routine regular health check-up and to take advantage of the outreaching HIV counselling and testing offered by our project in different setting and parts of the Flanders.
